This ABC course is for higher educated students who wish to achieve level A1 or A2 at a fast pace.
If you are a Beginner, you will start with Beginner A0-A1. If your level is at A1 already, you can start with Pre-Intermediate A1-A2. Take our level test here to get an indication of your current level (select location Rotterdam): Level Test
We work with different themes. Every lesson pays attention to all different components such as reading, listening, grammar, vocabulary, speaking and writing. Each class has a clear structure of repetition, instruction, practicing in pairs or small groups, working independently and we often play fun games to retain your attention in a pleasurable and productive way.
There will never be more than 10 students in our classes, therefore we always offer time for questions and personal feedback. Lessons are lively and motivating. As a result, our students enjoy coming to class and show us fast results!

Beginner A0-A1: 18 Sept – 1 November
In Beginner A0-A1 we will teach you the basics of the Dutch language. We will take off with the alphabet, verbs in the present tense, the use of the articles de and het, syntax, vocabulary, days of the week, telling the time, family, how to make appointments and suggestions, expressing your opinion and we will practice how to communicate whilst shopping. Furthermore we pay attention to the use of the adjective, the word ER, personal pronouns, reference words, the use of conjunctions in main and sub clauses and the past tense Perfectum.
The topics we cover are shopping, transport and free time. Through examples and exercises you will learn how to communicate in shops and cafes/restaurants as well as how to obtain and understand information whilst travelling. You will be able to have a conversation with Dutch friends and relatives regarding your hobbies etc.
Pre-Intermediate A1-A2: 6 November – 13 December
By following this course, you will gain much more confidence in using Dutch in daily life. During the lessons, most instructions are in Dutch and our energetic language games and conversation exercises with other students will significantly increase your vocabulary. We pay attention to demonstrative pronouns (this/that), the use of the word ER, giving instructions, main and sub clauses, separable verbs, the use of om/te, the past tense Imperfectum, reflexive verbs and the future tense.
Topics include living environment, health and appearance/character, education, work and we will practice telephone conversations. You will learn to describe your house and neighbourhood, to express yourself at the doctor’s, to describe yourself and others extensively and also to communicate in both past and future tenses.
